Washboard Storms Review

Andrea from Washboard Storms sent me her Ombre Michigan Grandma Potholder Set to review. NOTE… I received two of the potholders shown on the left… the white, blue, yellow, and purple one.

“My great-grandma Ethel lived in a tiny town in south-western Michigan. Part of her inheritance to the women in her family were sets neatly constructed potholders. Each of her granddaughters got a set of these potholders. I remember the years I spent trying to figure out how she was able to make them, their design a complete puzzle to my child’s mind! She passed away when I was quite young so I was never very close to her, but I have known her potholders very well in the years since.

My potholders are a tribute to the women in our family, especially Great-Grandma. I studied her pattern to create mine and it is my hope that they will be used in the creation of loving, tasty, homey meals for many years to come…”

The potholders are 100% USA grown cotton, and are machine washable and dry-able. Each potholder has a loop for convenient hanging.

I was extremely excited to get them and I am part of a family of 9… so, we have put them to use in the kitchen. :) I had not been used to using these type of potholders but they work very good and I like using them. They are good quality, thicker in the middle, but if you are wanting to hold a hot pan for a LONG time I would recommend you folding it over two times so that the heat does not get to your hands as fast. :)

Looking for new potholders???… or for a house warming gift???… please go check out Washboard Storms, Andrea does not just have potholders, but she has other items as well. Andrea is a stay at home daughter, and is trying to serve our Heavenly Father who made her. Please consider supporting her home business. You can buy Ombre Michigan Grandma Potholder Set for just $15.00 if you CLICK HERE!

Blessings,

***Closed***L’uvalla Balancing Cream Giveaway!

I closed this giveaway early due to my vacation!

Congratulations to Alyssa! You won this giveaway!

Comment #5 chosen by Random.org. Thanks to all who entered and to L’uvalla for sponsoring this awesome giveaway!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
L’uvalla, an organic skin care company specializing in French ingredients and fair trade, cruelty-free products. We were sent a lovely facial cream to try awhile back and here is the link to our review.
Here is just a few of the things Cattie had to say about it-
After using the Balancing Day/Night Cream as my daily moisturizer after cleansing for about a week, I’ve noticed that my skin is noticeably softer. It doesn’t produce extra shine in my oily areas, and it keeps my dry areas from peeling. I will say that the first time I used it, my face got a little pink – my skin is super sensitive and freaks out at the slightest change! – but that soon subsided. After just a week, my skin is really glowy and pretty, and I think my mild blemishes have even been reduced! Now that’s something you don’t see every day from a moisturizer.
So you wanna win some balancing facial cream? $48.99 value! Open to the US only.
Here is what you have to do: THIS IS MANDATORY! Tell me what else you would like from L’uvalla! You will only get 1 entry for the mandatory entry.
Rick Holman Art
A very dear friend of mine asked me if I would do a review of her dad’s Etsy shop and I agreed. (I’m such a good friend aren’t I???? Hehehe) :)
I took a look at Sarah’s dad’s shop and really liked his art! Check out some of it:
A Spring Field:
Here is Mr. Holman’s bio:
I was born in Texas, with roots covering much of the state. I did well in school, but I struggled through college, taking over five years to complete my BA. Once out, I worked as a programmer and then systems analyst in several industries.
Along the way, I met the most wonderful woman on the face of the earth, and I married her. Due to her unparalleled influence, we have seven magnificent children.
Through most of my life, my artistic talents have been limited to what I could see at a museum. My attempts at drawings made other peoples’ stick figures look quite nice.
However, where I work we have team meetings each week, and one member of the team would always doodle during the meeting. I decided in 2007 to start giving him some competition, and I started doodling myself. At first it was mostly just geometric designs in one color. After a while I added a second color, liking the contrast between red and blue pens. Then I tried other colors and shapes. Eventually, the shapes coalesced into forms that others could recognize. I still consider what I do “doodling,” but it could be considered extreme doodling. One nice aspect of this new skill of mine is that I have encouraged quite a few people with it. If I can do it, ANYONE can do it.
Homemaking Tuesday: Decorating June Part 4
Plants and flowers add a nice touch to every room. Whether you have a green thumb or not there are ways that you can decorate with plants.
One easy and beautiful way is to go buy a vase and some fake flowers and put it on a shelf, in the middle of a table, or to one side of a desk.
Another way to decorate with plants is get a potted plant and hang it from the ceiling. Check your local home improvement store for a ceiling hook. Then hang your favorite plant up. This helps give some dimension to the room.
Plants and flowers go with almost any theme and add a beautiful touch to any room.
Is Soft Skin Possible?
Is soft skin possible? Yes! It is! How do you get soft skin? Well, it doesn’t happen over night. Like anything else it takes time. But, here are my tips to get soft skin….
1. Drink Lots and lots, and lots of water!
Drinking water will help to hydrate your body. And will make your skin softer.
2. Use lotion.
Lotion is essential to getting soft skin. I apply lotion several times a day and the result is soft silky hands. Some of my favorite brands are- EOS Lotion, Yes! To Carrots, Olay, Skin MD, Dial, Burts Bees, Thymes, and a few other brands.
3. Use body oil.
I use body oil on my body after I shower. And at night if I feel like it. I love Sugar Reef body oil and Mama Mio body oil.
Tada! That’s it! In a few weeks you will have soft and silky hands!
Rambles From My Heart – Rejoice!
As girls when people mention love we get that far off look in our eyes and dream about the day when it will happen to us.
We sit for hours and dream about the day that we will be able to hold our lover close and never let him go. We fantasize about keeping a house and having children.
As the years go on we wait and pray. We wait for the perfect man to come and pray for purity.
It’s a hard feeling to have. Even though I’m only 19, I know the feeling of wanting to be married. I know that longing.
But what do you do, or how do you react when your friend says she is getting married?
A few months ago, my best friend announced her engagement. It was a shock to be sure. I was so happy for her, yet there was a part of me that was wishful.
When someone gets something that you want makes you want it all the more. It’s visual reminder of what you want.
For me it was no different. I wanted what she had. I wanted the adoring lover. I wanted the joy of planning my wedding. I wanted to be pulling out my hope chest.
I wish I could tell you that I was a wonderful friend and rejoiced with her completely without a hint of discontentedness. Such was not the case. I struggled. I was happy for her, yet when I was alone I kept thinking and wondering when it would happen to me.
But one thing that God helped me to see is that my friend needed someone to rejoice with her. She needed someone who would be genuinely happy for her.
One of the best gifts we can give anyone who gets something that we want is to be happy with them. It’s hard sometimes, but sometimes the best gifts are the ones that we have to provide by laying down what we want and giving freely and selflessly to another.
But neither can we just say that we are going to rejoice, but not feel that way deep down. We can’t create joy, but we can let God give us joy.
When a friend tells you some good news and you find yourself becoming jealous, stop and pray. Pray that God would give you joy so that you can celebrate with them. Then wait. Live as you are. Don’t try to be something you’re not, but let God change you into what you want to be.
My friend is now happily married and setting up her house. I went to see her a few days ago. She showed me her house, pictures from her honeymoon, and her wedding pictures.
As I look back, I can honestly say I was happy for her. I loved helping her and being a part of her special day. I treasure memories.
Rejoicing with others is hard sometimes, especially when they get something you want. But it is always worth it. Make sure to rejoice with others.
The Destiny Of One Book Review
I have known Sarah Holman for, oh my , I don’t know how long! I think we met online somehow quite a few years back and since then we have developed a wonderful friendship! So you can imagine my delight when Sarah asked me if I would like to review her book The Destiny Of One. Of course, I said yes! :)
Destiny – it’s a word that plagues Maria Morris. What does God want her to do with her life? Should she go to college or does God have other plans for her? When her parents go missing during a business trip, Maria embarks on a quest that will change her life forever. Trying to fight against an overbearing Milky Way Government, Maria travels to earth in search of a lost prince and some crown jewels. Her faith is tested, however, when a new law is passed. Will Maria be able to find her parents and the crown jewels before it’s too late? Is she strong enough to stand up for her faith even if it means never seeing her family again? Most of all, will Maria discover her true Destiny?
My thoughts:
Let me just start by saying that as soon as I got this book in the mail I started to read it. I even read it while I was making lunch and almost chopped my finger off in the process. (don’t laugh, buy the book and you will see what I mean!) I honestly couldn’t put this book down! I just HAD to keep reading it! I loved the entire story! And for some reason, while I generally very much dislike science fiction I LOVED this book. It kept me on the edge of my seat and I really could relate to Maria in SO many different ways!
I loved The Destiny Of One! Every teenager should have a copy on their shelf! (Yes, even you guys!)
Every Single Woman’s Battle Workbook
I have yet to read Every Single Woman’s Battle. BUT, when I got this book to review I thought that it was the actual book. Not the workbook! Anyhow, that was my mistake! :P
Personally, I thought that this book would NOT be for kids or immature teens at all. This book/workbook is for ADULTS. Not kids. I repeat that. Ok?
Every Single Woman’s Battle is a personal companion guide to the book Every Single Woman’s Battle. Reading through this workbook made me really think about some of my thoughts, and it also made me want to read the other books by Shannon Ethridge. :) I honestly, don’t know what else to say about this book since I haven’t read the “book, book”, but it looked really good! I would recommend this book if you have read the book first and then you could use the study guide with it! :)
You can buy this book on CBD.com here.
