The Fall Of Joe Jonas

Back when the Jonas brother’s first came out they where nothing more than three rather goofy, kinda cute, teenage boys with a tv show and hearts for God. Like other teenage stars before them they where harmless and their songs where not bad in any way.

In fact, you could tell by the way that they acted that they where all Christians. As a fellow christian I was excited that they where staying true. I watched as Kevin and his wife got married in a beautiful wedding, and I was pleased that all three boys wore purity rings.

Than everything came crashing down. Kevin and Nick stayed true to their faith, but Joe? Well, he seems to be the “bad” boy of the group. He was known for dating “around” with girls and then he took off his purity ring. And last year rumors where going around that Ashley Green and Joe where living together. To me it’s sad. It’s very sad in fact. That’s what Hollywood does to people. Especially young people.

I never was the Jonas brother’s biggest fans, I preferred other artists, but they aren’t horrible singers, in fact I LOVE Nick Jonas’s song “Who I Am”, but I am really disappointed in Joe. (and I loved Camp Rock I and II) I am even more disappointed that he is following in Chris Brown’s footsteps AND that he’s teaming up with Chris Brown to produce a album. (if you don’t know who Chris Brown is then GOOD! He’s a horrible person)

To “sum” this rant up, I’m not dissing on the Jonas brothers, in fact I’m impressed with Kevin and Nick. I’m not impressed with Joe. I’m disappointed that he’s chosen to leave the straight and narrow path. And I would advise you not to listen to his album that he is producing with Chris Brown……… I’m sure that in a year or so he will be just like the other stars. I’m hoping the Nick doesn’t follow in his footsteps.

So, what do you think about the fall of Joe? Are you still a fan? Will you still listen to his music if he turns into another Chris Brown? Are you concerned that Nick and other young boys will follow in his footsteps?

Just TRUST Him!

Trust. It’s not something that I give out easily. I’m the type of person that doesn’t trust just anyone. There are very few people outside of my family that I will tell just about everything to. So you probably get the idea that I don’t trust just anyone.  Anyhow, in my life I have made a lot of mistakes. And I’m not proud of them. But one of the biggest mistakes that I have made is not trusting God. Lately, I have been focusing on the negative in my life instead of the positive. I have had my eyes closed and I haven’t been able to see the GOOD that God has been doing. I have only seen the trials that God has given me in my journey.

But one day, God showed me that every trial and every thing that I went through was for MY good! Yes, even bad things that happened, happened for my good! Know I’ll admit it, it was hard for me to find the good in these things that have happened, but I did find the good in even those trials.

Trusting God has been a very hard thing for me to learn. And I still do struggle with just trusting Him. I’m still learning. And I am far from perfect. But I have learned that when you don’t trust God it’s hard. In fact, without God you cannot live. If your relationship with God isn’t right, then your relationship with your family, your friends, and basically every area in your life will be a wreck.

So for the next few days, just trust God. Let him take the reins in your life. Trust him in every area. Because HE is the only person who really truly knows what it’s like. Even if your life is a complete mess, he can still help you. All you have to do is trust him. Just remember- God never ever gives us more then we can handle. And you know what? If God is putting you through a ton of trials then he must think that you are one strong young lady! (he must think I’m pretty strong too!)

Bad Celeb- Ke$ha

***NOTICE****- This post is not for those 15 and under. Thank you!

This week we are going to talk about Ke$ha. She’s VERY popular among teenagers. I mean what’s not to love about her? Her music is catchy and fun to dance to. Plus, she’s got a great voice. **cough note the sarcasm** Well, as usual, my opinionated self has something to say about this girl. Ke$ha’s music isn’t ok. But before I get on my soap box let’s take a look at her life.

Ke$ha’s real name is just that, Kesha Rose Sebert. She was born on March 1, 1987 (age 24) in Los Angeles, California. Her mom was a single mom and struggled to raise her and her two brother’s. As a child Ke$ha felt like she didn’t fit in her school. Due to her sense of style that included purple hair. Her mom was a singer and brought Ke$ha and her brothers with her to recording studio’s. And when she started seeing talent in Ke$ha she encouraged her to become a singer.

At 17 Ke$ha dropped out of high school and was picked up by a record company. And at 18 she started her career! But it wasn’t until 2009, that her career picked up. She produced her first single called “Animal” and it topped the charts. Thus, her career had finally begun. Her album sales even surpassed Susan Boyle’s! Ke$ha has often been described as weird because of her unique sense of style and her outrageous outfits and hair styles.

Let’s start by saying that Ke$ha’s not cool. If you’ve never listened to her music then you aren’t missing much. Ke$ha might be a sensation with teenagers, but her music is NOT cool!

Her first single “Animal” was a HUGE hit. She sings about well, nothing really! It’s about being in love and duh, being a animal. It’s a rather stupid song really.

“Tik Tok” was Ke$ha’s second single. And even though it was all about partying, getting drunk, brushing your teeth with whiskey and having “plenty of beer” it hit the top of the charts.

“Blah, Blah, Blah” Ke$sha’s third single was major hit and had even worse lyrics. She sings about making out in a car, referenced the male anatomy and sang about **surprise** MORE beer.

SO, basically all Ke$ha is singing about is partying and getting drunk. Yep, that’s exactly what we should be listening to! Please, remind me how this is edifying?

If you don’t believe me then check out the lyrics to “Tik-Tock”-

Wake up in the morning feeling tipsy
Grab my glasses, I’m out the door, I’m gonna hit this city
Before I leave, brush my teeth with a bottle of Jack (beer)
‘Cause when I leave for the night, I ain’t coming back

I’m talking pedicure on our toes, toes
Trying on all our clothes, clothes
Boys blowing up our phones, phones
Drop-topping, playing our favorite CDs
Trying to get a little bit tipsy

I won’t make you read anymore of this trash. But honestly, what’s the point of this song? Singing about getting drunk and partying? Ke$ha’s making it sound like under-age drinking is ok! (and it’s not!)

Every single one of Ke$ha’s songs are talking about drinking, making out, and partying. I understand that this music is fun to dance to, (remember, I know alot of her songs! I used to listen to them!) but you can listen to tons of other things without having to listen to this music!

To make matters worse, kids are looking up to Ke$ha as a role model and they shouldn’t be! Ke$ha is known for her antics in Hollywood and her costumes and makeup are inspired by night clubs. Please, find yourself a better role model then Ke$ha! She’s constantly swearing and talking about things that are sin in God’s eyes. There are lots more people that deserve your respect and Ke$ha isn’t one of them!

What about you? Do you agree or disagree?

BTW-The only thing I like about Ke$ha? The fact that she doesn’t hide her beautiful freckles! :)

Homemaking Tuesday: A Recipe

By Rose H.

Here’s a recipe from my family kitchen. I love it because it’s easy, delicious, and cheap.

Caesar Chicken

3 Chicken Breasts

1 Medium box of Bowtie Pasta

About 1½ cups of Creamy Caesar Dressing

½ cup French Fried Onions

Boil the chicken in water until thoroughly cooked. Once chicken is cooked cut it into small pieces. Bring water up to a boil.

Add pasta. Cook pasta until soft. After testing to make sure that the pasta is soft, drain the water.

Add dressing and French fried onions. Serve and enjoy.

Tips To Getting “Perfect” Hair!

Hair, it’s a wonderful feature. But what if you have messy hair? I’m sure all of you girls with hair problems are looking for tips to get “perfect” hair. (Ok, so perfect hair isn’t possible, but you get my point don’t you???) So, here are my tips to getting perfect hair.

  • Switch shampoos often. Using one shampoo all the time can take a toll on your hair. Switch on and off from 2-3 shampoos and conditioners every week or so. That way your hair won’t become greasy from using the same shampoo and conditioner over and over again.
  • Don’t brush your hair. Okay, all of you are probably gasping at this one, but just trust me! I rarely ever use a brush on my hair! I use a wide toothed comb instead. I normally just brush my hair once a day. And that’s it! Brushing your hair can actually damage your hair. Especially when it’s wet. So use a comb instead.
  • Use conditioner. Use conditioner. It will help to keep tangles away. But, only use the conditioner on the bottom half of your hair. Not at the top of your head.
  • Wash your hair with shampoo twice. Don’t just wash it once. Wash it twice! And make sure you wash your hair well!
  • Use a comb. After you wash your hair run a comb through it to get any tangles out. Your hair should be tangle free for a few days!
  • Use a detangler. A detangler is a awesome invention!  Buy one that is a spray on to save time.
  • Limit the heat! Don’t use a flat iron, blow dryer, and curling iron all the time. Give your hair a break! Our hair doesn’t like being exposed to constant heat. And using a flat iron every single day is going to hurt your hair in the long run!
  • Get a trim. Honestly ladies, a hair cut isn’t gonna kill you. And a short little trim will do more good than harm to your hair! A regular trimming of your hair will ensure that it stays tangle free and healthy.
  • Love your hair. That’s right. Love your hair! Whether your hair is wavy, curly, straight as sticks, or even African American. Just love your hair. It’s perfect and is perfect for you!

These are all key tips to having healthy and shiny almost perfect hair! ;)

Rambles From My Heart: My Last Days

By Rose H.

In the past few years God has given me the privilege of working once a week for two elderly couples. As I have worked at these two houses, I feel more like a granddaughter than a cleaning lady. I’ve gotten to know these couples. See how they live their lives and see how they interact. I have seen their faith, love, and the happiness that they have.

It’s made me think about my life. What kind of person will I grow up to be? Okay, I know that at 20 I’m still considered a young thing, but I still think about what will happen when I get older.

Sadly I see some elderly people who are mean. They seem to hate life and are disappointed with everything. I don’t want to be like that. I don’t want to grow up to be surly. I want to become a kind loving older woman.

But how do I become like these kind elderly people? How do I become the kind of older person that everyone loves?

First, I take a deep breath. I’m not quite there yet. I need to live the life that I have now. That way when I get there, I don’t wish that I had my youth back.

Second, I need to forgive myself and others. Keeping short accounts is big when you think about the how much bitterness you can avoid later.

Third, nurture the ageless beauty that comes from within. I need to spend time in relationship with God. He is the most important thing in my life. I need to act like it. Give Him the best and let Him give me the fruits of the Spirit.

At the end of my story I want it to be said of me that she followed God with all her heart. I want even my last days to be the very best that they can be. So I’ll start now by preparing for those days. I trust that God will help me to love and serve Him until my last breath.

Glass Dharma sent me a beautiful set of glass straws to review. I love eco-friendly products because I think it is important to waste as little as possible. I want to be a good steward of God’s creation. Every day so many straws as served with meals at restaurants and used in homes, the majority of them end up in landfills. Using these straws is a simple way to do your part in protecting our beautiful gift from God.

Here they are, the Sipper Straw with Decorative Blue Dots (perfect for kids or a small glass), the Ice Tea Straw with Amber Decorative Dots, the Ice Tea Beautiful Bends Straw and the Simple Elegance Smoothie Straw. While I think that they are all beautiful and fun to use my favorite is their Beautiful Bends Straw. It is perfect for almost any beverage.
The Pros:
I love that they are eco friendly. If you use straws all the time then they will help you significantly lower your waste. They are more beautiful that your ordinary plastic straws. Glass Dharma shipping was very fast; I received the straws in two days! For more pros read the list above explaining their product.
The Cons:
They are an expensive buy ranging anywhere from $6.50 to $12.00 per straw. If you use straws regularly then you will end up saving money in the long run.
Over All:
I don’t see myself buying any of these straws in the near future with an exception to the Bubble Tea straw; I love to make Bubble Tea (Boba). (May be an early Christmas or birthday gift for myself?). I really don’t use straws often enough to get my money’s worth out of them. If you use straws frequently then I think that they are the straw for you!
Virtuous Girlhood received these products in exchange for writing a review. I was under no obligation to review them if I so chose. Nor was I under any obligation to write a positive review. This review is my honest thoughts of the products and company. All opinions are my own and not impressed by momentary compensation. Virtuous Girlhood does not endorse nor agree with everything at the websites featured.

Mean

Sometimes people have a way of making us feel like we are worthless and not good enough. Haven’t you ever felt that way? Like when everyone else gets invited to a party, but you don’t get to go because you aren’t “cool” enough? Or how do you feel when conversations cease when you walk up?

One of my favorite country songs EVER is Mean by Taylor Swift. It’s a wonderful song! I love the music video, and I also love how the chorus goes:

Someday I’ll be living in a big old city, but all your ever gonna be is mean.

Someday I’ll be big enough so you can’t hit me, and all your ever gonna be is mean.

Why you gotta be so mean?

Let me tell you something, usually the “losers” go on to make something of them. They go on to have a great career or a great business. They have HAPPY lives and they go on to have happy marriages and to have great kids. And the so called “popular” kids? Well, normally they are the losers when they get older! It’s a funny turn of events isn’t it?

Don’t feel bad if you are a so-called “loser” because as Audio Adrenalin (I think) says “All the losers get a crown” and it’s true! Just because they think you are a loser doesn’t mean it’s true! Remember, Jesus was born in a manger. He was a loser too. But guess what, he’s the biggest winner! And you are too!

Dear girls, one day you WILL be a winner. In fact, you are a winner now! They just can’t see it! The bullies are mean people who are just mean. Nothing more than mean. Mean is all they know! But that doesn’t mean that we have to fight back. We don’t. We just have to love them. I know it can be hard to love our “enemies”, but we are called to!

So here’s my challenge, next time someone pushes you around or makes a snarky comment- smile sweetly and don’t respond with a snarky response, just turn the other cheek. (you can even say I’m praying for you) And be sure to do something nice for that person. I can assure you that their response will be well worth it! :)

Remember, no one is better than the other! No matter what they say, you are a winner! I’ve been bullied by other kids before and treated like dirt by them, but you know what? God can help you to forgive and to love them!

Are They Edifying?

Today, I want to talk about fashion magazines like Glamour, Vogue, Seventeen, Vanity Fair, and Cosmo. First off let me say, that I enjoy a good fashion magazine just like some of you! I love reading the beauty tips and about the newest products!

But let me ask you, are they edifying? No, I don’t mean that the clothing ideas, beauty tips, and tutorials are wrong (I LOVE those), what I mean are the magazines edifying?

Is reading about “sex tips” really edifying? Most of us here don’t even have a boyfriend, let alone sleeping with a boy, so why put ideas into our heads that don’t need to be there? Why do we need to read about those things?

Secondly, what worldview are those magazines? Hmmm….what about the worlds view?

And finally, is looking at super skinny models and celebrities really healthy for us? What subtle message are these images sending? Hmmm…what about messages like “You’re so fat, look at me! You want to look like me!” or “I’ve gotta lose weight if I want to look like Selena Gomez” That doesn’t sound very healthy to me!

Like my dad says, garbage in, garbage out! If you fill you mind with filth, then filth is going to come out! Trust me! It WILL affect you!

Now don’t say that the magazines DON’T affect you! Because they do! Check out this testimony from a girl:

I read fashion magazines for awhile. They didn’t affect me, in fact I loved them! They gave me outfit ideas, beauty tips, and they also gave me a eating disorder. I started to think about boys more and more and I developed anorexia because of them. These magazine sent subtle messages to me that I wasn’t thin or pretty enough. And that I wasn’t good enough! Overtime my world view even changed! Girls, please don’t read these magazines. They don’t build you up, and they don’t help you.

SEE???  Please, please, please, don’t read these magazines! They don’t edify you!  They don’t help you! These magazines aren’t good to read!  And well we are on the subject, reading about celebs isn’t healthy either!

If you must read fashion magazines, then read only the good articles. Or better yet, look up these articles online and skip the magazine altogether! :)

Bad Celeb- Pitbull

***NOTICE****- This post is not for those 15 and under. Thank you!

This week we are going to talk about Pitbull. He’s a popular favorite among teenagers and young adults. But first, let’s take a peek into his life:

Pitbull aka Armando Christian Pérez was born on January 15, 1981 (age 30) in Miami, Florida. Pitbull was born to Cuban immigrant parents. Perez’s parents became separated when he was young, and he was raised by his mother. At age 16, his mother kicked him out of their house after **cough** he became a drug dealer. After that he graduated from high school and focused his career in rapping.

In 2001 Pitbull was signed a record label and in 2001 Pitbull was introduced to another label company that developed artists. They helped to develop Pitbull and made him who he is today. They helped him to make his music “better” and to get on the radio. They helped him to make his songs catchier and less on the rap side.

I didn’t care to read about his personal life into more detail then that, so I’ll just leave you with that. As you can see, he doesn’t seem like a very good role model for teenage boys and young adults. And his music is even worse.

Some of his biggest hits are- “Hey Baby”, “Give Me Everything”, “Hotel Room Service” and lots more! All of his songs are just trash! Just please trust me on this!

Back when I used to listen to more secular music (I still listen to some secular music, just not the nasty stuff) I hated Pitbull. Sure the music was catchy, but his music is extremely degrading!

I can’t even begin to tell you how awful his music is! This music is filled with nasty swear words and he sings about dancing at clubs, lusting after woman, and sleeping with people. This music is filled with lust and immoral lyrics. I really think his music should be censored. This music is very degrading to woman.

Let me ask you something, if teenage boys (who already struggle with their thoughts!) listen to a song that endorses lusting after woman, don’t you think he’s going to think it’s ok to do so? Precisely my point.

Pitbull’s music isn’t doing anyone favors. If you must listen to it, then do so. But, please keep in mind that lyrics in your head never go away. And you don’t want Pitbull’s lyrics in your head!

I’m begging you not to listen to Pitbull. There are TONS more songs that you could listen to that are peppy and up-beat! And at least they don’t have rotten lyrics! Don’t believe me? Look up “Hey Baby” by Pitbull.
