Bible Verse: Psalm 10:17-18
“O Lord, You have heard the desire of the humble;
You will strengthen their heart, You will incline Your ear
to vindicate the orphan and the oppressed,
so that man who is of the earth will no longer cause terror.”
Uncategorized | Comment (0)Homemaking Tuesday: With All Your Heart

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. Colossians 3:23-24
I’ve been thinking a lot about these verses lately. I don’t know about you, but I work a lot. I wash dishes, I clean my room, I write e-mails, I fold laundry, I make breakfast, and I could go on. I bet you have a list of things you do too. Sometimes I feel like the list of things to do keeps getting longer and longer.
If you’re like me, pretty much all I can think about when I’m doing these mundane tasks is, I just want to get this done so I can go off and do what I want to do. All I can think about is how to finish up quickly. Rarely do I put my heart into the task. This is very easy to do I can tell my hands to wash the dishes, but it’s much harder to put my heart into a task.
But God has been changing that. Over the past few weeks He’s been helping me to see this simple truth. In whatever I do, it should be for Christ. I should do everything I do as though I am working for God. So when I wash the dishes, I’m washing God’s dishes. When I vacuum the carpet, I’m vacuuming God’s carpet. When I write an article, I write it for God.
I know that this can sound funny, but when you think about it this verse says that we work for God. So none of our work is for mom or dad or our boss, it’s all for God. All of the things we do on a daily basis should reflect the love of Our Lord.
But how do we work at something with all our heart? First try to start thinking about your work as though you were working for God. Every time you approach a task, approach it as though God had given you the task. Then attack the task with the strength that God supplies.
Then there’s the heart. Put your heart into it. Let your heart spill over as you work. Pick up your feet and do it with every fiber of your being.
It’s not easy to do this, especially when I’m tired and the thought of sweeping is enough to send me deeper into the couch. Yet God always seems to gives me strength to get through those times. I finish the task.
My challenge for you is to wake up tomorrow morning and whatever you do work at it with all your heart, be that washing dishes, folding clothes, collage, job, vacuuming, loving your siblings, or whatever, work at it the all you heart.
Remember this: God is at work within you doing things that you can’t imagine. Maybe you can’t see it all, but God does. Do what you’ve been called to do for today and let God take care of the details.

“You have given him his heart’s desire, and You have not withheld the request of his lips. For You meet him with the blessings of good things; You set a crown of fine gold on his head. He asked life of You, You gave it to him, length of days forever and ever.”

“For You formed my inward parts; You wove me in my mother’s womb. I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works, and my soul knows it very well.
My frame was not hidden from You when I was made in secret, and skillfully wrotght in the depths of the earth; Your eyes have seen my unformed substance; and in Your book were written for me when as yet there was not one of them.”

A note on how this business got started:
“I’m a graduated homeschool mom…when my eldest daughter finished all her homeschool requirements at 16, I asked our youngest what she wanted to keep her company. Her response was a ‘goat’. She wanted to sell milk. We jumped into it for her not knowing anything about requirements or goat quality. She was happy with her 3 goats. I wanted more…they are really sweet animals. That was the beginning of this business - the rest has been God’s had. We pray in our customer base as only He can direct people to our small business. The eldest daughter is now married and the youngest is going to college (and still lives at home under her father’s covering). Rose of Sharon Acres keeps me busy and keeps the ‘girls’ in feed. My prayer is always that our products and company ethics will be a blessing to all that come our way.”

Uncategorized | Comment (1)Writing Tips: Great Websites and Blogs That Help Writers
Thanks Sarah for your tips!
As a writer, I am always looking for good resources to research my books and to help me improve my writing skills. Here are some of the websites and blogs that I have found helpful and a little bit about them.
Encouraging Emerging Authors.
This is a website I found recently, and it is really good; right now they are doing a lot on poetry. I don’t have a lot to say about this blog as of yet because I found it just last week.
Literary Pursuits, is done by my good friend Jessica. This blog is great for stretching your mind and writing skills. Jessica gives a writing prompt every weekend (this week it is a picture) and you write a short story and post it to your blog. Make sure you add your name to the list so that others can read your work. It is a lot fun, and I can’t wait to see what all of you write about.
A Writers blog, is another one of my favorites. She is an amazing author and she even sometimes posts chapters of the book she is working on.
Random Thoughts, is done by my good friend Arianna. She also posts on writing on a regular basis, and she just finished doing interviews with a bunch of bloggers who write.
Where the Map Ends, has a lot of really great writing tips by a published author. He is really into fantasy and stuff like that, but most of his tips are useful for any genre.
For research, I start with looking things up on Wikipedia. This is not a Christian site, but it is clean (at least all the pages I have read are); I use it a lot to look things up.
Do you know any great writing blogs or websites?
