Tip Of The Week #1

April 7th, 2008

Well, I decided to start a tip of the week. Here is a tip that I have found helpful:

Baking soda & lemon juice can get things out that other expensive cleaners don’t. I like it for cleaning the stove. It works so well! You have to try it! We got that tip from a good friend of ours.

Have A Blessed Day,

Family Fun Story Contest Promo

April 2nd, 2008

Hi,

My name is Rachel Starr Thomson. I’m a homeschool graduate, the oldest of twelve kids, and an author. My cousin Carolyn Currey and I have written a book of essays and memories entitled “Tales of the Heartily Homeschooled,” about growing up large, lively, and homeschooled! A chapter from our book will be published in the Spring Issue of The Old Schoolhouse Magazine.

To help kick off promotion (and encourage other young writers), we’re running a writing contest for homeschool kids ages 8-18. We’re looking for the favourite memories of other young people who are growing up the way we did!

There is no entry fee, and winners will receive an autographed copy of our new book, along with publication in our newsletter and on our publisher Web site, www.littledozen.com. The entry deadline is May 1. We’d be thrilled if you would mention the contest in your publication!

CONTEST INFO

Enter the Family Fun Story Contest to Win an Autographed Copy of “Tales of the Heartily Homeschooled”

We love family stories—that’s why we wrote this book! We’d love to hear your stories as well. If you are between the ages of 8 and 18 and you have a funny, dramatic, or touching true story you’d like to share, write it up and send it in!

We’ll be picking one winner in each age group (8-10, 11-13, 14-15, 16-18) to receive an autographed copy of “Tales of the Heartily Homeschooled.” The deadline for our contest is May 1, so get your entries in soon!

Entry Guidelines:

Stories should be between 700 and 2000 words. All entries must be based on real-life events. Put “Family Fun Story” in the subject line and paste the story into the body of the email—no attachments, please. In the top left corner, include your name, age, and email address. Email your entry to publisher@littledozen.com.
