ICHE

July 16th, 2008

Well, ICHE is over so here are some bullet points about what I enjoyed and what I did (a little belated but…)

  • I loved looking at all the booths! There are so many good books; unfortunately I had spent my money - to by a sewing machine, which was a good investment. So I just got Mom’s things in between vendor responsibilities.
  • I liked it that the Bentz’s and Giberts provided snacks and drinks for the vendors! Thank you; they were much appreciated! (They were free, too.)
  • I also liked it that we were able to bring our own food this time. Yea!
  • I love talking to people and being able to further the family mission :)
  • I liked this building better than the St. Charles Resort because it is easier to get around and faster getting back to the booth! :O
  • I loved getting the chance to talk about one of my favorite series! The Lamplighter Classics.
  • Oh, and please pray for the Bob Schultz family as Mr. Schultz passed away; read the following or follow this link HERE: www.iche.org/blog

To everyone who has stood with us…Honestly, I can’t stop smiling - my daddy is in the presence of His Master and Lord. His passage was easy and peaceful; he fought well and finished strong. I am so privileged to be his daughter and to have really come to know his heart and share in his passions: his love for his God, for everyday living, for relationships and for work. I’ve said it before, and I am proud to say it again, he was a great man of God and he is leaving behind a family who is grateful for his towering presence that will remain in our lives forever. My family and I are so grateful for each of you and for all your support, service and prayers during this time. May God richly bless every one of you.Beginning a new adventure with joy,
Betsy Schultz

SuMmEr FuN! & Garage Sales!

June 22nd, 2008

Summer is officially here! On Friday( and yesterday ) we had a garage sale. I hope to do a post on how it went.

Here are 10 things I love about summer:

  1. Pools. I love pools! Our old one popped last year so we hope to get another one this year.
  2. Watermelon!
  3. Summer showers :) It’s so nice to see rain after a hot day!
  4. AC. I could not survive without it!
  5. Ice cream.
  6. Barbecues.
  7. Popsicles :)
  8. Water balloon fights ;)
  9. Gioradano’s; in case you did not know, it is the BEST pizza place! :o
  10. Capture the flag.

We sold popsicles on Saturday and only made $1.00 so now we have 60 popsicles sitting in our freezer! Oh,well, we will eat them. :)

Popsicles

Juice of your choice ( we have used smoothies! Orange, grape, raspberry grape , tangerine, blends, tropical blends & more… all are really good on a hot day!)

Cheap, small dixie cups

Popsicle sticks

Pour juice into cups, add popsicle sticks, freeze for about 6 hours or till frozen, roll around in hands till it pops out (or push up bottom of cup up.) Enjoy!

Enjoy summer!

R.J.

P.S. Kathryn & Tara, I am sorry your letters are delayed, but I hope to send them out soon! ( It’s totally my fault since it’s me that’s holding the envelope from going out in the mail!) ( Oh, and Tara, I do hope to get back to your e-mail soon!)

Funny Letter, Toe Toothbrush, & Dolly General

June 20th, 2008

Well, on Monday, A was brushing her teeth. When she got tired of that, she walked over to J and brushed his dirty toes (he hadn’t had his bath yet) and put the toothbrush back in her mouth! LOL! What does that say about a two year old! ;0

Dolly General is a story about N when she was 5+. She was listening to our conversation about Dollar General…and said,”We are going to Dolly General???” Now, that says how much a 5-year old LOVES dolls! (It’s an old funny, by the way) :O

This letter was written by N (who, by the way, has the most funnies of all of us); she wrote this awhile ago just to be funny! Here it is:

Dear Mr. & Mrs. Vshx,

Oh, yes, would you like to give gold to us? Beware of the dog.

XX Us ,

Done!

Mom and I laughed!!!

Better go,

R.J.

P.S. Kathryn, your letter seal on B’s letter was beautiful!

Mayanmar Cyclone A Way To Show His Power!

June 19th, 2008

I never did post my thoughts about some of the natural disasters that have been in the news. Here is one I wrote in May:

It is so amazing how the awesome forces of nature show God’s almighty power … like with the earthquake in China and the cyclone in Myanmar. Some people might think, ” Why would an all kind and loving God let these things happen?” Well, for one, they are just ways to show His awesome power! Psalm 2: 8 says, ” Ask of me and I will give you the nations for your inheritance and the ends of the earth for your possession.” So let’s ask God to send help to the cyclone victims who are being given moldy rice and inedible biscuits for food, to send relief and help to them as well as to the Chinese earthquake victims.

Keep smiling in spite of everything! :)

It’s About Time!

June 17th, 2008

Well, I guess it’s about time I got back on the roll with blogging! So here are some bullets on the month of June:

  1. We went to ICHE ( B, Dad & I) the first week of June, had fun, earned some money selling books - now we only have 13 books left in stock… well, not anymore, since our new books just arrived today.
  2. We had to turn the air on the week of ICHE.
  3. It finally cooled off again yesterday (and today).
  4. Noah is getting teeth.
  5. N had a birthday on the 1st of June.
  6. We are having a garage sale this weekend.
  7. We are getting lots done for the garage sale.
  8. Dad hurt his back the last week of May. Ouch!
  9. Our computer might be dying! Ouch! (either that or the fan is going)
  10. Our computer did die. Dad just went out to buy something for it.
  11. Noah’s a cutie!
  12. We will be painting & reflooring soon! (right now we are on concrete.)

And June is only half over!

His Handmaiden,

R.J.

4 Months!

June 15th, 2008

My little lamb is 4 months! It is so hard to believe that just 4 months ago, on February 15th at 1:20 A.M., the little angel entered into the world. Our desktop crashed or else I would post photos.
