Recipe Of The Week
Today I thought I would post a recipe. I will try to post one every week. This week’s is one of my family’s favorites! It is easy to whip up.
Chocolate Chip Cheesecake
Crust
1-1/4 cups white flour
1 cup icing sugar
1/2 cup cocoa
1/4 tsp baking soda
2 sticks (1 cup) cold butter, cut up
Mix together, adding butter last. Mix until it forms a ball and press into two pie plates.
Cheesecake
Three boxes 8oz cream cheese
1 cup icing sugar or cane sugar
Three eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 bag of mini chocolate chips
Heat oven to 450 degrees. Beat cream cheese and sugar till fluffy. Add eggs and beat. Add vanilla. Stir in almost all of chocolate chips (saving the rest for the top.) Pour into crust and bake for 10 minutes WITHOUT opening the oven door. Reduce temperature to 250 and bake for 30 minutes or until edges of cheesecake turn golden brown. Melt the rest of the chocolate chips; pour on top of cheesecake. Refrigerate until cold. If you want to be frugal, this will make two 8″ pies. Or you can just make one 9″ pie.
Sorry about the pound cake in the picture, but it was the only picture of the cheesecake we had! The pound cake is a family favorite, too.;-)

Noah Is Our Little Doll!
Noah Is Our Little Doll!
Noah is so cute and sweet,
Just like a little doll!
His eyes so blue and hair so golden,
Just like a little doll!
He loves to be held and cuddled up,
Just like a little doll!
He likes to look around and see what is going on
Just like a little doll!
He sleeps so peacefully and sweetly,
Just like a little doll!
He likes to be wrapped up closely,
Just like a little doll!
Life is fun with our little cutie,
Who is just like a little doll!

Noah is doing great! He is eating most of the time! I guess that means that he is a boy???
In five days he has been here, he has gone through fifty-six diapers! Think his system is fine???
This morning N.D. wanted a change of scenery so I took him downstairs and he was happy
Little sis is enjoying Grandma being here, but I do not know what she will think when she leaves on Saturday! :/ She fell asleep on Grandma this morning and I took a picture, which I hope to post.
Too bad it is only 9 degrees out here because the boys are begging to go out side. Maybe tomorrow. Sigh. I like winter but I can not wait for spring!
I would post more pictures, but I am using the laptop which does not have the pictures on it. I hope to post pictures soon!
Better go.
His Handmaiden,
R.J

Sisters
Sisters
Sometimes I think sisters are a pain,
They leave their things all over the place!
Books on the dresser, math on the chair,
Clothes dangling upside down from the closet,
Dolls on my bed…that I just cleaned off!
Little sis in my hand-cream that cost me a fortune!
These as are just a few very good reasons
To think Sisters are a pain!
But, I must not think this way at all,
It’s absolutely not God’s thinking,
So, I must have right thinking or I am in trouble!
That is why I must try my hardest to be,
A virtuous girl, my Daddy’s daughter and His Handmaiden,
For little sisters are a blessing from God,
Sent to teach me!

Pass It On Journals
On December-16-06, my mother and I started a pass it on journal. It has been fun!
We enjoy writing notes to each other. We ask questions, share different things - like stories from my mother’s childhood, and even poems that I have written! Last year, we even made plans for a tea-party in the pass it on journal! I love responding to my mother’s replies and reading her responses back to me. It is a great way to build our relationship. My favorite thing is asking questions about her childhood. Our pass it on journal has quite a few stories in it!
It makes it really special if it has a pretty journal cover! Ours has a rose and greenery on the cover! My sister (I will call her Sis #1) also does this with mom and their journal is beautiful as well, with a girl and a harp on the front. My second sister (Sis #2) cannot wait to do one as well. We hope to pass this on to future generations! It will be fun to sit down as a grandma and say, “This is what your great-grandma (my mother) and I wrote to each other when I was a little girl!” I can’t wait!
I encourage you to try it out and tell me how you liked it by commenting or e-mailing me.
February 2008 | Comments (2)More Than A Hope Chest
I just finished Miss Amber Moeller’s book More Than A Hope Chest.
I really liked the chapter Constructing The Walls because she talked about how we construct the walls of our hope chests through having a Christian spirit and through our life skills, which was very interesting.
Other topics encouraged me to bless my father and his name now while I am a young lady in my father’s house. She stresses the fact that we must honor our fathers and in doing so we learn how to honor our husbands later during marriage.
She also gives a list of books in the back that she recommends reading, which I look forward to doing.
Miss Amber put to the light our callings as daughters and sisters, which means more than putting together a wooden hope chest filled with items for our future houses. It is a wonderful little book which I will read often. I also encourage you to buy it!
Book Reviews, February 2008 | Comments (2)They Are Brothers. NOT Bothers!
They Are Brothers, NOT Bothers!
Do you have brothers?
Do you think they are bothers?
Well, they are not bothers,
They are brothers!
Sometimes they’ll bug us.
And most often tease us,
But we ought to count it all joy!
We ought to be kind and gentle,
And take it all with a smile,
While ruffling their hair
And saying, “I love you!”
Then they’ll stop the bugging and teasing!
Now I have to learn this lesson as well,
For I have brothers like you,
It’s a hard thing to learn,
So let’s learn it!
