My little sis took the photos for me. Thanks Louise you did a great job! These photos are unedited.

Today’s outfit may be liked by some and the rest of you may hate it. It’s up to you. Me? I love this outfit. I’m typically in jeans and a tee, but I was sick of them so I pulled this cute dress out of my closet and added a cardi, boots, and leggings to “winterize it”. I like the finished look.

What the dress looks like without the cardigan in the way. I would have taken it off, but it was FREEZING and below 10F.

If I had taken this shot I would have fixed my cardi, but oh well. :)

Le necklace (These final two where taken by yours truly. Don’t ask how I did it. It’s kind of hard to explain. :) )

And a final closeup……

What I Wore-

I really have no idea where the clothing came from. Most of my clothing is thrifted unless it comes from Kohl’s or Walmart. The leggings are from Walmart though. :)
Boots- Naturalizer
Necklace- Shabby Apple

Here are the links to the website and the item I got: and http://www.apostolicco.com/product.php?id_product=227 . I have also attached the pictures for you.

Apostolic Company sent me their Ruffle 3/4 Blouse to review. The blouse is very pretty. It is made of 95% Cotton and 5% Spandex fabric and is machine washable and dry-able.

When I first got it in the mail and tried it on, I thought that it was kind of itchy (because of the lace), but onceI washed it and it was no longer itchy.

There were a couple things that I had to do to the shirt. First, I had to iron the lace down since it stuck up… but that was no big deal. I think that the only other main thing that I did not like was, the buttons were loose so I had to sew them a little tighter. But besides that, the blouse is pretty nice. Oh, one other thing was, when I got the blouse, it was ripply all over, but once I washed it, it was not ripply any more.

Apostolic Company did a good job in shipping their items out quickly.

If you are a girl you just might need another blouse in your closet. Go order yours HERE for only $18.95. Apostolic Company does not only offer pink blouses, they have other colors available too.

Virtuous Girlhood received these products in exchange for writing a review. I was under no obligation to review them if I so chose. Nor was I under any obligation to write a positive review. I’m sort of into the whole “hipster” look. I don’t think I accomplished it in this look, but I sort of like the look. :) It’s weird, but I like it. Unfortunately I packed away **smacking my forehead here** all of my summer clothes, so I worked with what I had. I was inspired by this beautiful gal’s outfit so I tried to re-create my own look.

What I Wore-

Black Maxi- DeLacy Collection
Sweater/Cardi- Random store
Scarf- Random store
Boots that you can’t see- Naturalizer

What do you think of this look? Is it a mess or cute?

Thanks sis for taking the pictures!

January 27th, 2012

It is a blah day and I was tired of jeans and yoga pants. And I wanted to feel pretty. So  I curled my hair, put on a skirt, and some heels and felt like a princess. (To all you girls sitting in jeans like me, you should try this sometime! ) I then decided to run outside and get my sis to snap some pictures. And this is the result. Because I’m cool er silly like that. :D

**Warning, you are about to see my personality. My bubbly/silly side that no one besides my close friends and family sees. Don’t say that I didn’t warn you.** :D

I warned you……

Don’t judge, I told you I was crazy.

However, the wind was against us. Not only did my curls turn into a big mess, but several photos turned into a  ”Marilyn” white dress moment. And it’s also one of the reasons that I prefer pants otherwise my skirts whip up….

I dance my way through life and when I fall, I pick myself back up.

Ignore my hair and the rolled up tank underneath. I need to chop all the hair off and I should have fixed that tank. I just wanted to show you one of my favorite necklaces. It reminds me to dream big and to believe. Don’t ask why, it just does. ;) And I can’t believe that I just posted these  crazy photos….

What I Wore-

Skirt- Thrifted
Shirt- Thrifted
Tank-Someplace
Necklace/Ring- Fantasy Jewelry Box
Boots- Thrifted
Tights- Forever21

My sister and I stood out in the cold and took these photos, so don’t steal. I don’t like thieves, and these photos are un-edited and mine.

Ugh. I have a love/hate relationship with winter. I hate how dull and dreary it is, but at the same time I love these trends! And you can make winter go faster by adding these items to your wardrobe.

  • Pop of Color

Winter is so, well it’s so dull, so why not add a pop of color? You can easily do that with a pair of bright shoes OR a handbag. Personally, I’m drooling over these red shoes and this yellow handbag. Trust me though, your local thrift store will have both these items for 75% off what’s listed at the links.

  • Tights

I LOVE tights. Did I mention that I LOVE tights? With tights I can even wear my summer dresses! Yay! :) Forever21 has tights at great prices. I’m planning on shopping there sometime soon as I really need to get some more tights for winter. :)

  • Hair Accessories

Once again winter will go by alot faster if your hair looks super cute! ;) And hair accessories are a great way to dress up your hair. Mimi’s The Look, Forever21, 1928, and Cover Your Hair all have some adorable hair accessories.

  • A Bright Coat

Yep! Bright coats are in ladies! Whether yours is plaid, solid, or checked it doesn’t matter, so long as it’s bright! Personally, I’m drooling over this sweet coat from Nordstorm.

  • Orange

Lucky, lucky, lucky me! Orange is one of my colors. And I love that I can wear it! Personally, I’d love to own a orange skirt and coat. And I’m drooling over this beauty!

What are you doing to brighten up winter??? :)

November 3rd, 2011

Yay! Fall is here! And I thought that I would make a list of five trends to try this fall. You CAN be trendy, fashionable, and modest!

Dark Colors-

Is your look missing something? You bet! Dark colored nail polish is totally in this season! You can easily copy this trend with Zoya nail polish. Zoya nail polish has tons of colors AND they are all natural! I love Zoya nail polish, and once you try it you’ll be hooked! ;)

Scarfs-

Scarfs are the perfect accessory for fall! I personally LOVE the circular scarves. And this little cutie is no exception! You can find it here. (of course you can find them at Kohls, Target, and Walmart too!)

DRESS Boots-

DRESS boots are a must have. And every girl should have a pair of these. (notice the emphasis on DRESS boots here ladies!) ;) I personally recommend that you have a pair of black and brown. But, if you can’t do that, then either or color works great too!

Cute Hair Accessories-

This fall it’s all about the lace/glam ladies! And you can easily dress up your hair with some adorable hair accessories from Forever21. If lace or glam isn’t your thing then check out some clips from Flexi-8!

Animal Prints-

Ok, if you like bold and wild then this is the trend for you! I don’t have a animal print handbag, BUT I am dying to get one. Because this is a HOT trend this fall ladies! Check out this cutie, and it’s only $23.95!!!

So, are you gonna try at least on of these trends this fall?

Ashley from Bramblewood Fashion is holding a Fall Fashion Challenge! Fun right? I think so! ;) Anyhow, she invited me to join and I said yes. Of course, we want all of YOU to join too. It’s alright if you blur/crop your face out. I’ll be blurring my face out as cropping really looks tacky and ruins good photos! ;)

Bellissimo Jewelry sent me a bracelet and a set of earrings to review. Here is an excerpt from their website:

… “Here you can find a great selection of beautiful gold and silver handmade earrings, necklaces and rings. I use only the finest materials including 14K gold filled, sterling silver, fine silver, silver plate and 18K and 22K gold plated, vermeil, crystals, and natural gemstones…”

This bracelet was made out of small metal and plastic beads and there is a metal flower attached to it. The bracelet is really pretty and good quality. I have a somewhat small wrist so the bracelet was just a little too big for me and I gave it to my sister. The two different types of beads make the bracelet sparkle when you move it.

At Bellissimo’s Etsy shop she has more then 40 bracelets for sale and you can check them out if you CLICK HERE! The prices range from $8.00 to $50+ dollars.

The earrings are beautiful and I really like them, but … I do not have pierced ears:):):) I gave them to a friend and she really liked them. They have a flower on them and a beautiful tear drop bead that matches the bracelet – only this bead is a larger. They look like they are great quality and they are very light weight too.

Do you like wearing earrings??? How about having different ones to match with your different sets of clothes??? Bellissimo Jewelry has over 100 listings of beautiful earrings, so go check them out HERE! The earrings range from $8.00 all the way to $50+ dollars.

When I opened up the package that Bellissimo Jewelry had sent the bracelet and earrings in, I found them in a cute little box with a ribbon on it. Bellissimo Jewelry does not only have bracelets and earrings, but they also have rings, necklaces and anklets. Please go check out her Etsy shop HERE.

Thank you,

~Miss Sarah Washburn

Today, I want to talk about fashion magazines like Glamour, Vogue, Seventeen, Vanity Fair, and Cosmo. First off let me say, that I enjoy a good fashion magazine just like some of you! I love reading the beauty tips and about the newest products!

But let me ask you, are they edifying? No, I don’t mean that the clothing ideas, beauty tips, and tutorials are wrong (I LOVE those), what I mean are the magazines edifying?

Is reading about “sex tips” really edifying? Most of us here don’t even have a boyfriend, let alone sleeping with a boy, so why put ideas into our heads that don’t need to be there? Why do we need to read about those things?

Secondly, what worldview are those magazines? Hmmm….what about the worlds view?

And finally, is looking at super skinny models and celebrities really healthy for us? What subtle message are these images sending? Hmmm…what about messages like “You’re so fat, look at me! You want to look like me!” or “I’ve gotta lose weight if I want to look like Selena Gomez” That doesn’t sound very healthy to me!

Like my dad says, garbage in, garbage out! If you fill you mind with filth, then filth is going to come out! Trust me! It WILL affect you!

Now don’t say that the magazines DON’T affect you! Because they do! Check out this testimony from a girl:

I read fashion magazines for awhile. They didn’t affect me, in fact I loved them! They gave me outfit ideas, beauty tips, and they also gave me a eating disorder. I started to think about boys more and more and I developed anorexia because of them. These magazine sent subtle messages to me that I wasn’t thin or pretty enough. And that I wasn’t good enough! Overtime my world view even changed! Girls, please don’t read these magazines. They don’t build you up, and they don’t help you.

SEE???  Please, please, please, don’t read these magazines! They don’t edify you!  They don’t help you! These magazines aren’t good to read!  And well we are on the subject, reading about celebs isn’t healthy either!

If you must read fashion magazines, then read only the good articles. Or better yet, look up these articles online and skip the magazine altogether! :)

There are just some clothing items that a girl has gotta have! And every girl has to have these Fall staples in her closet! Check out mine!

A sweater dress….

A cute sweater dress can be worn with or without leggings. I normally wear mine with leggings/tights and a cute pair of boots. This look is pretty effortless and is adorable!

Fall Shoes

Wet Seal plaid shoes
$15 - wetseal.com

Boots/Ballet Flats……

And who could forget boots and ballet flats! Boots and ballet flats are a girl’s best friend! It’s a good idea to own a pair of black and brown boots so you can easily accessorize any and every outfit for Fall! And be sure to own ballet flats in at least three different colors!

Leggings…..

Ahhhhh……it’s kinda hard for me to say if I think boots or leggings are girls best friend! With leggings you can easily turn any outfit into a fall or winter ensemble! Plus, leggings are totally on trend!

Fall Dresses

H M smocked dress
£15 - hm.com

A colored dress……

Forget about the little black dress, this fall get a dress in a autumnish color like gold, red, brown, or grey!  You can accessorize with a belt, boots or pumps, and jewelry!

Fall Coats

Calvin Klein short coat
$138 - nordstrom.com

A good jacket….

NO! A Columbia jacket does NOT count as a “good” jacket. You need at least one dress or trench coat to complete your fall wardrobe! You can’t make any excuse about not being able to afford one either! You can find a dress coat and trench coats for $10.00 at thrift stores/resale shops!

Handy tip- To find these items dirt cheap scour Freecycle, Craigslist, Ebay, and Thrift Stores/Resale Shops.

What are your fall staples?

Mimi’s sent me their Gold and Crystal Coil Bracelet to review. I was very excited when a little bit after Miss RJ asked if I wanted to review this bracelet I received it in the mail!!!

When I opened the package I was very surprised to see how small the bracelet was, but that was to my delight since I do not like big bulky and heavy bracelets:) This bracelet is so pretty, the crystals sparkle in the light and are just beautiful and the really nice thing about it is it fits any size wrist perfectly:) The Gold and Crystal Coil Bracelet is so light and comfortable that I sometimes would forget that I even had it on:)

I was very pleased with Mimi’s Gold and Crystal Coil Bracelet and I highly recommend you going and checking out Mimi’s website HERE! You can buy Mimi’s Gold and Crystal Coil Bracelet for only $25.00 (plus shipping and handling) if you click HERE!

Thank you,
