Today’s outfit may be liked by some and the rest of you may hate it. It’s up to you. Me? I love this outfit. I’m typically in jeans and a tee, but I was sick of them so I pulled this cute dress out of my closet and added a cardi, boots, and leggings to “winterize it”. I like the finished look.

What the dress looks like without the cardigan in the way. I would have taken it off, but it was FREEZING and below 10F.

If I had taken this shot I would have fixed my cardi, but oh well.

I really have no idea where the clothing came from. Most of my clothing is thrifted unless it comes from Kohl’s or Walmart. The leggings are from Walmart though.

Apostolic Company sent me their Ruffle 3/4 Blouse to review. The blouse is very pretty. It is made of 95% Cotton and 5% Spandex fabric and is machine washable and dry-able.

When I first got it in the mail and tried it on, I thought that it was kind of itchy (because of the lace), but onceI washed it and it was no longer itchy.

There were a couple things that I had to do to the shirt. First, I had to iron the lace down since it stuck up… but that was no big deal. I think that the only other main thing that I did not like was, the buttons were loose so I had to sew them a little tighter. But besides that, the blouse is pretty nice. Oh, one other thing was, when I got the blouse, it was ripply all over, but once I washed it, it was not ripply any more.

I’m sort of into the whole “hipster” look. I don’t think I accomplished it in this look, but I sort of like the look. It’s weird, but I like it. It is a blah day and I was tired of jeans and yoga pants. And I wanted to feel pretty. So  I curled my hair, put on a skirt, and some heels and felt like a princess. (To all you girls sitting in jeans like me, you should try this sometime! ) I then decided to run outside and get my sis to snap some pictures. And this is the result. Because I’m cool er silly like that.

**Warning, you are about to see my personality. My bubbly/silly side that no one besides my close friends and family sees. Don’t say that I didn’t warn you.**

Don’t judge, I told you I was crazy.

However, the wind was against us. Not only did my curls turn into a big mess, but several photos turned into a  ”Marilyn” white dress moment. And it’s also one of the reasons that I prefer pants otherwise my skirts whip up….

I dance my way through life and when I fall, I pick myself back up.

Ignore my hair and the rolled up tank underneath. I need to chop all the hair off and I should have fixed that tank. I just wanted to show you one of my favorite necklaces. It reminds me to dream big and to believe. Don’t ask why, it just does. And I can’t believe that I just posted these  crazy photos….

My sister and I stood out in the cold and took these photos, so don’t steal. I don’t like thieves, and these photos are un-edited and mine.

I stopped posting outfits simply because I feel like I have an inadequate sense of style and it just feels weird. But quite a few readers have commented and asked for them back, so I guess I’ll attempt it again.

I always go through the pictures and I catch glimpses of what I would have done differently if I had been shooting the photos. And I can think of a TON of things that are wrong with these photos, but here goes, I’ll try to do a outfit once a week or so for you all.

This week I attempted boho style with jeans . I love the hipster/boho look. All that I needed was a feather headband, sandals, and an oversized bag and I have the look. It was too cold for that though, so I went with the WARM boho style.

Hot or pretty? I don’t like it when guys treat me as if I**ahem** am a sex object to be stared at.  (No, I don’t dress immodestly most of the time I’m in jeans or a knee length skirt) I would much rather be called a pretty girl then a “hot babe”. Seriously, if you guys think this is a turn on think again! I don’t give a guy half a chance if he whistles and  shouts “Hey babe, what’s up!!” SERIOUSLY????? I might look innocent and sweet, but I HATE these comments!

I want to ask you something- How would you describe Taylor Swift? Most people would describe her as pretty and innocent and I agree. However, how would you describe Miley? I would say you would probably say that she is “hot”. If you compare the way she dresses to the way Miley Cyrus dresses, which would you rather be like? I’ll be like Taylor thank you very much.

Let me explain something to you, most of the time when you dress like a “hot chick” then you will get treated like a plaything and a toy that guys can use. However, if you dress like a pretty innocent young lady then guys will instantly want to respect and protect you. (In my experience though sometimes it doesn’t matter what you wear and guys will still be jerks!)

See my point? When guys see a girl dressed modestly and looking like a girl should, something clicks in their brain. They instantly want to protect and respect you. Dressing pretty will ensure that guys will WANT to win your heart, protect it, and love you.

However, when you dress up in a micro-mini skirt and corset type top, guys will think that you are cheap and they can easily get you. They won’t want to protect or love you. They just want your body.

Something that Emma Watson once said really stuck with me: “Modesty is hottest, and the more you keep covered the more people can wonder.”

I know that Emma and Taylor have both worn some questionable things, but compared to Katy Perry and Miley Cyrus they both seem to be all around sweethearts!

My point is, is that we don’t have pretty anymore. We have hot. I say that we bring pretty back! And maybe along the way we will uncover some guys who are being suffocated by all the “hot” girls out there. Remember, for every pretty girl this is a hundred “hot” girls.

It’s your choice, will you be a pretty girl or a hot girl? You CAN be a beautiful, modest, and pretty girl. Me? I choose the pretty girl. And even if the guys go for the hot girls- remember they respect the pretty girls. And I’d rather be respected any day then be treated like a object that is just there for play and fun.

It seems like all the clothing these days are getting skinner, shorter, and tighter. And the clothing stores tell you that “if you’ve got it, flaunt it!” Don’t even get me started on Junior’s clothing. It’s really hard to find modest clothing. All the clothing makes you look like trashy! And it all seems to be made so it WILL cause guys to stumble.

These days, all girls seem to be thinking “will this outfit make me look hot or not?” Sorry girls, but looking “hot” isn’t exactly what you should be thinking when you get dressed! Rather, you should be thinking “will this outfit cause a brother to stumble?” When I get dressed in the morning, I try to be modest, yet fashionable/attractive. I don’t get up thinking “what can I wear that will push the limits?’ or “how hot will this make me look” Looking hot isn’t on my agenda! Looking attractive yet modest? Yes!

I love the label on my cargo pants, it says “To go nowhere follow the crowd” And it’s SO true! Following the latest trends won’t get you anywhere! You CAN be modest while being attractive!

Girls, you don’t want to look trashy. And all the clothing these days seems to be trying to make girls look trashy. Let me ask you something, do these clothing items REALLY honor God? When you are wearing short shorts, mini skirts, tube dresses, and crop tops will people be able to see your shining light? And are you being a city on a hill?

Remember, your clothing should be loose enough to show you are a lady, but tight enough to show you are a woman. Tube dresses/tops, short shorts, “hot” pants, crop tops, and mini skirts/dresses aren’t clothing that a virtuous girl wears. When you get dressed, take a good look in the mirror and check out your outfit, would you be embarrassed if your pastor could see you? If not, then wear the clothing! But if you would be embarrassed, wear a different outfit.

When you choose to ignore the latest immodest trends, not only are you protecting your OWN purity, but you are also protecting the purity of boys and men around you.

Yay! Fall is here! And I thought that I would make a list of five trends to try this fall. You CAN be trendy, fashionable, and modest!

Dark Colors-

Is your look missing something? You bet! Dark colored nail polish is totally in this season! You can easily copy this trend with Zoya nail polish. Zoya nail polish has tons of colors AND they are all natural! I love Zoya nail polish, and once you try it you’ll be hooked!

Scarfs-

Scarfs are the perfect accessory for fall! I personally LOVE the circular scarves. And this little cutie is no exception! You can find it here. (of course you can find them at Kohls, Target, and Walmart too!)

DRESS Boots-

DRESS boots are a must have. And every girl should have a pair of these. (notice the emphasis on DRESS boots here ladies!) I personally recommend that you have a pair of black and brown. But, if you can’t do that, then either or color works great too!

Cute Hair Accessories-

This fall it’s all about the lace/glam ladies! And you can easily dress up your hair with some adorable hair accessories from Forever21. If lace or glam isn’t your thing then check out some clips from Flexi-8!

Animal Prints-

Ok, if you like bold and wild then this is the trend for you! I don’t have a animal print handbag, BUT I am dying to get one. Because this is a HOT trend this fall ladies! Check out this cutie, and it’s only $23.95!!!

My apologies for the two pictures in this article. I didn’t even notice that they had a strapless top in each them. Thanks to the ladies who informed me of them. Like I said, I didn’t even notice, and most of the time I write these articles in the wee hours of the morning, so if I miss anything please let me know ok??

I never really thought about guys and modesty before I started getting older. And I never really realized how important it is to be modest. Ecspecially around guys. Know some of you girls might say “Well, it’s their problem. If they can’t control themselves, then it’s THEIR problem.” WRONG!

Girls that dress immodestly around guys will not have respect from guys. And as a female, you want guys to respect you.

Now, I will give you this, sometimes it doesn’t matter what you wear around guys. It’s true that some guys DO have problems and they can’t control themselves (I know take it from me!), but for 95% of guys respect girls that dress modestly. Here is what some guys say about modesty:

Question #1- Do You Respect a Modestly Dressed Girl More Then A Immodestly Dressed Girl?

“I respect a modestly dressed girl SO much! It shows so much of their inner character, strength to fight the culture, and care for their brothers!” age 16…..

“I hold girls who dress modestly with so much more respect, because they chose to stand alone.” age 16

SEE? It’s not just me saying this! Tons of guys agree! They respect girls that dress modestly SO much more! Even non-christian guys do! You may not be getting any attention by dressing modestly, but you do gain the respect from young men. In the long run which do you want more? Respect or attention?

A sweater dress….

A cute sweater dress can be worn with or without leggings. I normally wear mine with leggings/tights and a cute pair of boots. This look is pretty effortless and is adorable!

Boots/Ballet Flats……

And who could forget boots and ballet flats! Boots and ballet flats are a girl’s best friend! It’s a good idea to own a pair of black and brown boots so you can easily accessorize any and every outfit for Fall! And be sure to own ballet flats in at least three different colors!

Leggings…..

Ahhhhh……it’s kinda hard for me to say if I think boots or leggings are girls best friend! With leggings you can easily turn any outfit into a fall or winter ensemble! Plus, leggings are totally on trend!

A colored dress……

Forget about the little black dress, this fall get a dress in a autumnish color like gold, red, brown, or grey!  You can accessorize with a belt, boots or pumps, and jewelry!

A good jacket….

NO! A Columbia jacket does NOT count as a “good” jacket. You need at least one dress or trench coat to complete your fall wardrobe! You can’t make any excuse about not being able to afford one either! You can find a dress coat and trench coats for $10.00 at thrift stores/resale shops!

Handy tip- To find these items dirt cheap scour Freecycle, Craigslist, Ebay, and Thrift Stores/Resale Shops.

I was raised in a strictly religious family, and was taught at an early age about virtuous women and ladylike behavior.  When I was in middle school, I rebelled and started sneaking miniskirts to school, changing in the bathroom before class and strutting around school.  When my mother found my illicit clothing, she threw them out, after which I started rolling the waistband of my skirt to shorten it.  I also started “borrowing” my mother’s heels, not understanding that this gave my skirt the appearance of being a micro-mini.

This behavior continued until I was sixteen.  I was spending the night at a friend’s house, and went to church with her.  Her church was not a church like the one I attended, and I was surprised to see women in slacks, jeans, and skirts that came above their knees.  In Sunday School, the youth pastor spoke about modesty, a subject that had been drilled into my head from birth.  However, the way he taught about it had a profound impact on me that has lasted to this day.

Rather than quoting the verses in Proverbs and 1 Timothy, he pulled out a fashion magazine and held it up.  Staring back at us from the cover was a scantily-clad woman with a heavily made-up face.  “When you look at this woman, what is the first thing that goes through your mind?” he asked.  There were several responses, but the consensus was that she was a woman of loose morals, and probably did drugs, smoked and drank.

Next, he held up a photo of a woman with an ankle-length skirt, a long-sleeved blouse, and long hair in a bun, and asked the same question.  “She looks mean,” one person called out, while others felt that she was bossy, stuffy, stuck-up, and old.  I was too timid to add to the conversation, or I would have said that she looked like my mother and most of the women in my church.  Interestingly enough, not one person described her as being virtuous or Godly.

Finally, he held up a picture of a woman wearing denim skirt with a hemline just above the knee, a v-neck t-shirt, and sandals, and repeated his question a third time.  “Friendly!” one girl said; “Cute!” added a boy.  Everyone agreed that she was fashionable, and that she was someone with whom they would want to be friends (and of whom their parents would approve).  When the youth pastor asked what we felt her character to be, it was unanimously decided that she was God-fearing and morally pure.

When this exercise was complete, the youth pastor opened his Bible and read the following verse: “The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart” (1 Samuel 16:7b).  Then, he opened the floor for discussion and analysis of the exercise.  He stood quietly while we discussed things.

Eventually, it was decided that people will judge us on our outward appearance, and will draw conclusions about our character and integrity based upon these outward indicators.  As an adult, I have seen ample evidence that this is true, whether you are a Christian or not.  Women who dress immodestly are often approached by less-than-desirable characters, and may not understand that this happens because of how they present themselves to others.

It is my experience that society tends to treat poorly-dressed women with less respect than their modestly-dressed counterparts.  Women who dress modestly have the outward appearance of someone who respects themselves and is confident enough to not give in to peer pressure.  Even if this isn’t truly how they feel about themselves, it is still the impression that others will have, and the woman will be treated accordingly.

Conversely, women who dress immodestly come across as insecure and desperate.  They could be college graduates and more confident than any other woman in the room, but all people see is exposed flesh.  Women who dress like this appear to have little self-respect, so others tend to show them less respect.

There are many ways to dress modestly and stylishly.  Gone are the days when modesty meant covering every inch of exposed skin.  There are fashions that allow girls and women to exhibit their femininity while still appearing ladylike and respectable.  Jeans can be formfitting without being skintight; skirts can come above the knee without being so short that they leave nothing to the imagination; and shirts can be flattering without showing cleavage or leaving the midriff bare.

A trick that I have learned is to accessorize my outfits.  If you worry that you look too prudish or boring, add some bangles or a pretty pair of earrings.  Mix and match your outfits, throw on a pair of sandals one day or cute heels for a night out.  All of this can be done without compromising your integrity!  And remember: trends will come and go, but your character and personal integrity is more important than the latest fashions and will be there your entire life.
