February 22nd, 2012

My little sis took the photos for me. Thanks Louise you did a great job! These photos are unedited.

Today’s outfit may be liked by some and the rest of you may hate it. It’s up to you. Me? I love this outfit. I’m typically in jeans and a tee, but I was sick of them so I pulled this cute dress out of my closet and added a cardi, boots, and leggings to “winterize it”. I like the finished look.

What the dress looks like without the cardigan in the way. I would have taken it off, but it was FREEZING and below 10F.

If I had taken this shot I would have fixed my cardi, but oh well. :)

Le necklace (These final two where taken by yours truly. Don’t ask how I did it. It’s kind of hard to explain. :) )

And a final closeup……

What I Wore-

I really have no idea where the clothing came from. Most of my clothing is thrifted unless it comes from Kohl’s or Walmart. The leggings are from Walmart though. :)
Boots- Naturalizer
Necklace- Shabby Apple

February 1st, 2012

I’m sort of into the whole “hipster” look. I don’t think I accomplished it in this look, but I sort of like the look. :) It’s weird, but I like it. Unfortunately I packed away **smacking my forehead here** all of my summer clothes, so I worked with what I had. I was inspired by this beautiful gal’s outfit so I tried to re-create my own look.

What I Wore-

Black Maxi- DeLacy Collection
Sweater/Cardi- Random store
Scarf- Random store
Boots that you can’t see- Naturalizer

What do you think of this look? Is it a mess or cute?

Thanks sis for taking the pictures!

January 27th, 2012

It is a blah day and I was tired of jeans and yoga pants. And I wanted to feel pretty. So  I curled my hair, put on a skirt, and some heels and felt like a princess. (To all you girls sitting in jeans like me, you should try this sometime! ) I then decided to run outside and get my sis to snap some pictures. And this is the result. Because I’m cool er silly like that. :D

**Warning, you are about to see my personality. My bubbly/silly side that no one besides my close friends and family sees. Don’t say that I didn’t warn you.** :D

I warned you……

Don’t judge, I told you I was crazy.

However, the wind was against us. Not only did my curls turn into a big mess, but several photos turned into a  ”Marilyn” white dress moment. And it’s also one of the reasons that I prefer pants otherwise my skirts whip up….

I dance my way through life and when I fall, I pick myself back up.

Ignore my hair and the rolled up tank underneath. I need to chop all the hair off and I should have fixed that tank. I just wanted to show you one of my favorite necklaces. It reminds me to dream big and to believe. Don’t ask why, it just does. ;) And I can’t believe that I just posted these  crazy photos….

What I Wore-

Skirt- Thrifted
Shirt- Thrifted
Tank-Someplace
Necklace/Ring- Fantasy Jewelry Box
Boots- Thrifted
Tights- Forever21

My sister and I stood out in the cold and took these photos, so don’t steal. I don’t like thieves, and these photos are un-edited and mine.

January 25th, 2012

I stopped posting outfits simply because I feel like I have an inadequate sense of style and it just feels weird. But quite a few readers have commented and asked for them back, so I guess I’ll attempt it again. :)

I always go through the pictures and I catch glimpses of what I would have done differently if I had been shooting the photos. And I can think of a TON of things that are wrong with these photos, but here goes, I’ll try to do a outfit once a week or so for you all. :)

*******

This week I attempted boho style with jeans . I love the hipster/boho look. All that I needed was a feather headband, sandals, and an oversized bag and I have the look. It was too cold for that though, so I went with the WARM boho style. :)

My boots and accessories…….

What I wore-

Jeans- Macy’s
Shirt- Kohl’s
Jewelry- Necklace Shabby Apple, bracelet random.
Boots- Vintage, they where my great-grandmother’s.

All photos are un-editied and are mine so don’t steal. ;)

It seems like all the clothing these days are getting skinner, shorter, and tighter. And the clothing stores tell you that “if you’ve got it, flaunt it!” Don’t even get me started on Junior’s clothing. It’s really hard to find modest clothing. All the clothing makes you look like trashy! And it all seems to be made so it WILL cause guys to stumble.

These days, all girls seem to be thinking “will this outfit make me look hot or not?” Sorry girls, but looking “hot” isn’t exactly what you should be thinking when you get dressed! Rather, you should be thinking “will this outfit cause a brother to stumble?” When I get dressed in the morning, I try to be modest, yet fashionable/attractive. I don’t get up thinking “what can I wear that will push the limits?’ or “how hot will this make me look” Looking hot isn’t on my agenda! Looking attractive yet modest? Yes!

I love the label on my cargo pants, it says “To go nowhere follow the crowd” And it’s SO true! Following the latest trends won’t get you anywhere! You CAN be modest while being attractive!

Girls, you don’t want to look trashy. And all the clothing these days seems to be trying to make girls look trashy. Let me ask you something, do these clothing items REALLY honor God? When you are wearing short shorts, mini skirts, tube dresses, and crop tops will people be able to see your shining light? And are you being a city on a hill?

Remember, your clothing should be loose enough to show you are a lady, but tight enough to show you are a woman. Tube dresses/tops, short shorts, “hot” pants, crop tops, and mini skirts/dresses aren’t clothing that a virtuous girl wears. When you get dressed, take a good look in the mirror and check out your outfit, would you be embarrassed if your pastor could see you? If not, then wear the clothing! But if you would be embarrassed, wear a different outfit.

When you choose to ignore the latest immodest trends, not only are you protecting your OWN purity, but you are also protecting the purity of boys and men around you.

Ashley from Bramblewood Fashion is holding a Fall Fashion Challenge! Fun right? I think so! ;) Anyhow, she invited me to join and I said yes. Of course, we want all of YOU to join too. It’s alright if you blur/crop your face out. I’ll be blurring my face out as cropping really looks tacky and ruins good photos! ;)

Anyhow, here is the info for the Fall Fashion Challenge-

Date- November 6 – 12th {Sunday – Saturday}

The challenge is all about being modest yet, fashionable. So keep modesty and Fall weather in mind. Of course there is also a challenge for each day! :)

Sunday – There is no challenge for this day. You can do what ever you want.
Monday – Black & Brown/ Red & Pink / any color combinations that don’t normally go together.
Tuesday – Bold Tights {color, prints, patterns, lace-y…}
Wednesday – Dress like your favorite era. {1910s, 1940s, 1970s, etc…}
Thursday – Polka dots. {If you don’t have polka dots, you can do another other print you own.}
Friday – Your favorite Fall trend.
Saturday – Wear a hat.

There is only one rule. Keep it modest! Make sure your outfit are modest and not too short and reveling. If Ashley finds your outfit entry to be objective or suggestive she has the right to remove the link from her linky.{You can wear pants and long-ish shorts too.}

Sounds like fine right?? So join up here! And be sure to check back for my outfits!!

July 25th, 2011

Summer is the hottest season of the year! But being hot is no reason to dress immodestly!  So what’s a girl to do? Easy…….:)

Wear Maxi Dresses/Skirts-

#1- Downeast Basics

Maxi skirts/dresses are normally sold in cool light fabrics for summer. Plus they are really modest! Although- you might want to wear a slip beneath them as they can be see-through.  Plus, you can find them at most stores and they are affordable!

Layer, Layer, Layer-

Layering can be hot, but you can easily solve that by layering with cami’s and tanks. I highly recommend that you invest in some high-quality tanks/camis to wear beneath tops/dresses.

T-Shirts-

I love them! I have I don’t know how many different plain colored t-shirts I own! Why? Well, because they are simply wonderful to layer, wear beneath things, wear with cardigans, and wear by themselves!  You can dress them up or dress them down!

Denim Skirts-

Denim skirts are perfect for summer! Most are light-weight and you can do almost anything in them!

Capris-

For us girls who do activities that you cannot wear skirts for then capris are a must! (hiking, biking, and more!)  If you are worried about them being too tight in your rear then wear a tunic style shirt instead of a t-shirt.

A Cool Summer Dress-

Dress- Shabby Apple

Invest in a cool modest summer dress. You won’t regret it! I have found cute yet modest summer dresses at Target, Walmart, Forever 21, Macys, JcPenny, Kohl’s,  and other stores!

Blouses-

After t-shirts my favorite type of shirt is a blouse. They are SO feminine and pretty! Plus, they are normally quite modest and perfect for summer!

Whatever you do this summer one of these items is sure to help you stay modest whilie being cool this summer!

Well, since July is now almost over and Fall will be here before we know it, Claudia E is celebrating fall with some fun clothing collections!

They where nice enough to send me a adorable dress to review. Check out some pictures of me in it-

**Image credit my little sis. A big thank you to our neighbors tree for being my ever faithful prop!**

I don’t know what I was saying to N in this one, I think I was telling her what way to hold the camera. :D

Cute eh? Yeah I think so too! This dress is simply adorable! I paired it with my Target leggings, DG Eyewear sunglasses, and “fake” UGG boots. If I wasn’t so lazy, I would have dug out my other boots or flats and worn them with this. (they are packed up)

This dress is perfect for Spring, Fall, and Winter. I wouldn’t wear it for summer though. It would be too hot! :) I love how well made this dress is! It’s a great fit and

I hate my current swimsuit. It’s ugly. It’s modest, but ugly. So, I don’t swim. Yep, I don’t swim. I have no desire to “strut my stuff” in a bikini and I get enough attention from guys as it is, so I have no desire to wear a one-piece either. And I most certainly have no desire to wear a **ahem**, frumpy, modest swimsuit.

I have never been able to find a cute, yet modest swim suit. So I am very pleased to introduce to all you ladies who sew…..Fresh Modesty Swimwear E-Book!

The Fresh Modesty Swimwear E-Book is a book written by the lovely Olivia Howard And I am very pleased to say that I LOVED this book! Olivia shows you how to make a adorable , yet modest swimsuit! That you can swim in!

I read her e-book over a few times and I found no fault with it at all! Her instructions are not confusing to me at all! (loved that part! :D ) And, she explains how to make a swimsuit in different views/styles in a easy to read format.

Check out some of her creations-

Can you say ADORABLE???? I sure can! :)

I am happy to say that thanks to Olivia, I am going to be making my own swimsuit this summer. I think I am going to do either a red floral fabric (hey, I look nice in red!), or a pink summery fabric, or a black and white fabric. I have no idea! BUT, when I do make my swimsuit I’ll be sure to share it with you all! ;)
